ABOUT SUMKHUMVIT Sukhumvit Road is Bangkok's longest at over 480km spanning from the city center to the southern coast. It is also one of the most diversed and culturally rich areas in Bangkok, ideal for types of visitors. The skytains in the city with the BTS Sukhumvit Line running pretty much along most of Sumkhumvit Road, makes travelling to other parts of the city a whisk. There are several attractions along the BTS Sukhumvit line such as the Thai Royal Air Force Museum in the north, Chatuchak Market (opens Fri to Sun), Victory Monument, Phyathai Palace, Asoke Interchange, Erawan Museum just to name a few. This train line also stops at major shopping hubs such as Siam Square & Paragon, Nana night market, Asoke Terminal 21 and Phrom Phong's high end malls and shops. Over hundreds of Sois (side streets) line both sides of Sukhumvit Road and some of the very popular and trendy ones are Soi 11 where a good variety of themed nightclubs, bars, cafes and restaurants are available for your best night out. The Korean Town where restaurants of different Korean cuisines and specialty shops lies between Soi 10 and 12 if you crave for some kim chi in between all the delicious Thai food available every corner and along every Soi. Night life is a must see and experience while in Bangkok. Near the Asoke Interchange Station is the renown night spot of Soi Cowboy. Catering to tourists and expats, this is one street of different themed go-go bars and pubs and adult shows. It is one of three major night spots in Bangkok, the other being Patpong in the Silom area and Soi Nana Tai in Chinatown. Walking along Sukhumvit in the evening is an enjoyable experience as street vendors are out in full force. There's always something for everyone and if you enjoy the bit of bargaining, these stalls owners normally accept your offers especially if its their first sale of the day. If not, there's likely another down the street who will. If you had not stayed in this area before, give it a try as this locale has an entirely different atmosphere.
